How We’d Be
By Matt Hason
for Yehudit
She is as precious as our memories of us
Those years ago, that we smile upon
And drink to. In the Northampton winter
Night, as I lean in, fascinated by her
That she is and all she says, revelations
Of what personality I knew, that struck me
Thunderous, a body. Made to love and
Fashioned of art. The strength to find
Meaning in form. To take it on and relay it
With passion against fate, or how time
Slipped away. Gone. But not for long
As it returns in her, to me. Just like us
